An 15-year-old adolescent has been judged to life incarceration with a base duration of 16 years for the homicide of other student the victim during a lunch break.
The defendant knifed the victim, similarly 15 years old, in the chest with a hunting knife at the learning facility in February.
The judge lifted the anonymity restriction on the killer during the punishment phase at the judicial building.
Caroline Willgoose said she felt "as if a big load has been taken off my person" following the sentencing.
The two teenagers had earlier argued over online platforms in the time leading up to the lethal incident.
Caroline Willgoose remarked she was pleased the base duration had been set higher than the statutory minimum of 15-year period.
"My father has been undergoing cancer treatment through the court proceedings and he just couldn't hold on any longer," she said.
Leading up to the killing on February 3rd, the perpetrator and the deceased had adopted conflicting positions in a different dispute between two other students.
CCTV from the date of the stabbing showed the assailant moving toward the deceased in the school yard briefly after lunchtime.
Witnesses described a situation of "confusion", with individuals "running, shouting everywhere" during the brutal event.
Throughout the legal proceedings, the defendant claimed he had not intended to kill the victim or cause him serious harm, asserting he could not recall what had occurred.
The state maintained that he had "intended to demonstrate he was formidable" and "knew exactly what he was doing".
"You were the provoker and... you acted in pain and anger at what you viewed to be his treachery of your bond," declared the judge during the judgment.
All Saints Catholic High School published a message stating that the pupil was "greatly remembered every day by the entire school community".
