An aircraft soaring over a popular southern California coastline suddenly began spiraling wildly, ultimately losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm fronds as beachgoers observed.
Footage posted on social media capture the helicopter beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then plunging in the direction of the border of the shore, where it gets stuck between palms and a steps close to the shoreline route.
The Huntington Beach fire department reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the street were harmed. Specifics on their condition were not yet released.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
Officials said the chopper was connected to an annual “Cars and Copters” charity gathering set for the following day.
