Fast bowler Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Concerns.
'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.
The pace bowler added to England's injury problems after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.
The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left hamstring after the final ball that he bowled during the morning session.
The touring camp stated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "during the day".
The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January gets underway this coming Sunday.
England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.
Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.
The seamer had a tough time early in the series, managing only three wickets.
He was dropped of the third Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.
Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat among just a trio of English batsmen to get into double digits.
After bowling one over late on the first day, he returned the next day and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.
Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of his spell, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt his left hamstring.
Gus Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission of the third.
