In “It’s a Deal”, a flashback reveals that popular personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a serial killer in his mortal days. Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he established communication with the afterlife in advance to obtain a strong position in Hell. The charismatic leader, the charismatic leader Hell’s cannibal community, promised Alastor he would become “the strongest Sinner in Hell” in return for his eternal spirit.

This raises an important query: How is this character sufficiently strong to raise Alastor above every other Sinner Demons?

“The agreement between Rosie and Alastor is the first stepping stone in a larger narrative that involves a great deal, leading into the third season,” the showrunner states. “Obviously that is a perfect question: How is she so strong? The solution could be many things, but the revelation is in season three. I am thrilled for fans to witness it.”

There’s no telling how long the audience will have to remain for Hazbin Hotel’s third season. The studios have green-lit the third and fourth seasons, but the showrunner often notes that animated production is a slow, lengthy process, and later seasons are undated. Nevertheless, she says withholding on those details is a crucial aspect of maintaining season 2’s focus in the right places.

“The difficulty of any agreement with demons, or stories that have mysteries, is providing the audience sufficient clues to be like, Something's up here, and then unveiling that gradually, and letting that be gratifying,” she says. “So I'm very excited.”

Mysteries Resolved in Season 3

The showrunner promises that season 3 will address the queries fans have been asking, such as why the cannibal leader ordered Alastor to vanish for a seven-year period, which diminished his power in Hell.

“The whole seven years, and the deals these individuals are doing, and everything — it's feeding into a bigger narrative,” she says.

Meanwhile, the origin story episode offers a further look into what the core cast of Demonic Sinners appeared as as mortals, the second after seeing another character's historical mortal appearance in episode 2. The creator says that a lot of thought went into these character designs.

“The human versions of the characters hold so much weight,” she notes. “They range from looking quite distinct from their infernal version to looking almost identical. With the first character, the initial design we see, there was some internal discussion internally between choosing a design that represents the character, versus going with something that's historically correct. We leaned toward making a design that just felt like it was him.”

She mentions the biggest debate over Pentious’ human design was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘No one really had long hair of that style in that historical period.’ But at the same time, we believe the silhouette is extremely crucial, and we also just felt he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This seems correct.’ We kind of gave the excuse that he lived in seclusion, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there's always a way. As we create the mortal forms of these personas […] it's such a fun thing to investigate and determine. I'm excited for people to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
