The Latest Casual Playlist Sparks Heated Debates Over AI Players, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, the game developers launched a new playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this mode mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but features a few key changes:

  • Every squad includes only eight human participants, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents.
  • Activities performed by real players award full XP, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
  • Only two maps are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
  • Features like Dogtags, achievements, and stat tracking have been turned off.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its name: it offers a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it provides additional choices for players seeking different methods to have fun with the title. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, many Battlefield 6 fans are mad.

Community Responses: Anger to Support

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Don't repeat the errors of your competitors," reads one reply to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," says another. Meanwhile, in community forums, a player notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this game," and someone else lists everything they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."

On the other hand, amid the criticism, there are players sharing how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's very fun to warm up, real players keep it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," says a forum post. "This subreddit fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this game 24/7. Allow them to find a middle ground," adds another. A response via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Criticisms and Community Input

All that said, players have valid points to criticize Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have highlighted that it will make wait times more extended for different playlists because of the sheer number of playlists in the game already. Similarly, some areas often face mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.

Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was promised to provide full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to remove XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the community compromising in the middle, as per forum feedback. A different user describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I experienced great enjoyment in the initial release, what prompted them to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made?

If Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something so far with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, should analytics indicates this new playlist isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
